Dress for Success Toronto is looking to hire an Event Coordinator to support staff with administrative and the operational tasks required to execute our annual Mastering Your Job Search (MYJS) and Youth Employment Summit (YES) events. Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Event Coordinator is to support staff with administrative and the operational tasks required to execute Dress for Success Toronto’s annual Mastering Your Job Search (MYJS) and Youth Employment Summit (YES) events.

Length of Contract

  • This position will run for 8 weeks from May 20, 2024 to July 12, 2024
  • Working Days: Monday to Friday, 8 hour\day, 40 hours/week
    • Monday-Thursday in-person | Fridays Virtual
  • Salary: $16.55 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engage in data entry and maintain inventory lists
  • Lead set up and tear down of the “Shoe Boutique” for Mastering Your Job Search
  • Collaborate implementing pre-planning and post event duties
  • Communicate with vendors, support event logistics, organize event resources
  • Complete on-site venue visits to ensure event preparations and coordination of event components run smoothly
  • Other administrative tasks as assigned to support event duties

Qualifications

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills (verbal and written)
  • Organized and able to complete assigned tasks in timely manner
  • Capable working both collaboratively and independently
  • Ability to respectfully interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds
  • Previous retail and/or inventory experience an asset
  • Previous experience planning special events an asset
  • Comfort working in a hybrid environment (virtual and in-person)

Supervision, Training & Support

The Event Coordinator is part of the Programs Team and reports to the Manager, Programs. Students will participate in weekly all-staff meetings and attend weekly one-to-one check-ins with their supervisor. Supervisors will support the development of role related skills and specific goals as indicated by the student.

As part of DFS Toronto’s ongoing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Learning Journey all staff, students and Volunteers are required to participate in three online learning modules focused on an Introduction to Human Rights and Equity. The purpose of this series is to solidify the awareness of issues of equity and inclusion through key definitions and scenarios to better equip students to contribute to safer, braver, and more inclusive spaces in their role with DFS Toronto and beyond.
