I came to Canada full of hope for a safer future, and while I was excited and looking forward to building a life here, I was also very scared as I didn’t have any connections in the city and I knew it wouldn’t be easy, especially since I didn’t speak any English.

There’s no telling how much of an impact that giving something small can have. I was motivated by people who didn’t even know me. I was motivated by a community of people who wanted to help in their own way, loudly cheering me on or quietly deciding not to kick me out of the library after it closed. Their belief in me reassured my belief in myself; their vision for me was something to reassure myself when I felt the most hopeless about my future.

I can’t count the number of times that Clients and I have shared tears over the stories they have shared. During the suiting experience, when Clients see themselves reflected in a mirror looking so eloquent and ready to address a new time in their life, they often seek me out to show me how they look in their new attire…always a very moving, shared time and space.
