Join Our Team of Dedicated Volunteers!
In-person Volunteer Roles
Join our Boutique Support Team on-site at 5150 Yonge Street and help bring our Suiting & Styling Program to life. Through this signature service, Clients are able to access free clothing and accessories to supplement their wardrobe, regardless of where they are at in their employment journey. This is a meaningful and transformative experience for both Clients and Volunteers.
Donation Assistants
Our Suiting & Styling Program wouldn’t be possible without the generous clothing, shoe and accessory donations from our community and corporate partners. Donation Assistants are the behind the scenes heroes that keep our Boutique looking fabulous for our Clients. This position includes sorting our donations of clothing, accessories and shoes, as well as maintaining the organization of the Boutique to keep it full of fashionable finds that empower our Clients forward.
Shift Details: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays at 9:30am-1:00pm & 12:30pm-4:00pm
Boutique Ambassadors
In-Person Clothing Consultants work one-on-one with Clients during their appointment to select clothing and accessories that meet their needs and personal style. While an interest in fashion is an asset, the key focus for this role is being an excellent listener and having a genuine passion for supporting women at different stages in their lives. Clothing Consultants guide Clients through their one-hour appointment to select 2-3 full outfits and ensure they are set-up for success.
Shift Details: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays between 12:00pm & 8:00pm (shifts are 3-4 hours in length)
In-Person Clothing Consultants
Boutique Ambassadors support the overall flow of our Suiting & Styling Program by being the first and last touchpoints for our Clients — greeting them warmly when they arrive, and wrapping up their appointment before they leave. This role also supports the Clients by sharing information about DFS Toronto’s other programs and services. This position is perfect for those who are detail oriented, eager to meet new people and willing to support with additional tasks as needed.
Shift Details: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays between 12:00pm & 8:00pm (shifts are 3-4 hours in length)
Virtual Clothing Consultants
Virtual Clothing Consultants support our Clients who are unable to come to our Boutique in-person. Similar to the In-Person Clothing Consultants, these Volunteers work from Boutique space, meeting our Clients virtually and facilitating their appointment over Zoom. During this one-on-one session, Virtual Clothing Consultants will show the Client the items they had pre-selected. Following the appointment, the Volunteer will pack up the chosen items to be shipped to the Client’s home.
Shift Details: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays between 10:00am & 12:00pm (shifts are 2 hours in length)
Virtual Volunteer Roles
Join our Online Client Services Team from the comfort of your home and offer guidance to our Clients virtually. At DFS Toronto, we offer a series of virtual, one-on-one services that our Clients can use based on their personal and professional needs. From resume and interview support, to needing personal styling advice, these virtual offerings supplement our other programs and are facilitated by our Virtual Volunteers.
Career Specialists
This flexible and independent role supports Clients through the job search process. During these one-on-one conversations, Career Specialists will work with Clients in areas such as resume and cover letter review, interview preparation, and LinkedIn profile best practices. Appointments take place over Zoom and are typically one-hour in length. There are also opportunities to support Clients at in-person events that include a Career Support component.
Shift Details: Flexible based on your schedule. Can take place 7 days a week between 8:00am and 8:00pm.
Hair & Make-Up Stylists
This is a unique and meaningful opportunity to provide education, tips, and style advice to help Clients look great and feel confident. Similar to our Career Specialists, our Hair & Make-Up Volunteers meet with our Clients virtually over Zoom for approximately one-hour. During these appointments, Clients can get advice on personal styling, hair, make-up and skincare. There are also opportunities to support Clients at in-person at events that require hair and make-up, like for headshots.
Shift Details: Flexible based on your schedule. Can take place 7 days a week between 8:00am and 8:00pm.
Wardrobe & Outfit Consultants
Volunteer Wardrobe & Outfit Consultants provide virtual styling advice and support to Clients. This is a unique and meaningful opportunity to provide styling education and tips to help Clients feel confident with their wardrobe. During these one-hour appointments on Zoom, Volunteers support with creating outfits and suggesting pairing options using the items the Client currently has in their wardrobe.
Shift Details: Flexible based on your schedule. Can take place 7 days a week between 8:00am and 8:00pm.
Helping Women Now
Helping Women Now is a national initiative led by the Dress for Success Canada Foundation, in collaboration with Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE). This program provides Clients from all 13 Canadian affiliates an opportunity to connect virtually with a Peer Support or Career Support Volunteer. Like the DFS Toronto Career Specialists, Volunteers for this program assist Clients virtually, providing career advice and general guidance based on the Client’s unique needs.
